Natalie Joy's Musings

2/27/2007

Why I won't have time to blog for the next little while

Featuring: Chuck Herriott, Margo MacDonald, Teri Rata Loretto and Stewart Matthews

Stage managed by yours truly.

Steven Berkoff’s Greek is a modern adaptation of the Oedipus tale by Sophocles: a young man is fated to kill his father and sleep with his mother. Berkoff not only sets the story in post-punk Britain, but also changes the focus of the tale to speculate on the numerous restrictions on love in a modern day society, as well as the seriousness of patricide. Berkoff employs a unique form of poetic vulgarity in his scripting, a language that is both offensive and beautiful.
