The Back to Work Blahs

This post is long long overdue. Like some of my friends, I too have been reading about Kris' adventures and have felt bad for not updating my end of the cyber-diary. Not that I really have much to report. My holiday went fairly smoothly... had the standard time with the parents, my sister and bro-in-law, grandmother, uncles and cousins. We laughed, we ate, we drank... the usual. It was nice, but I wish I could have had more actual downtime. I probably only had 5 days off in total. Oh well, no time to dwell on that now. The final semester of my MFA is upon me!

I had my first class of my last seminar course yesterday... Theatre at the Crossroads of Narratives with Professor Yana Meerzon. Now I've enjoyed most of my classes through this degree, but there have only been a few that have stood out as being extremely intellectually (or physically) challenging... and I'm sure this will be one of them. Here's a few reasons why I know this:
  • The course pack of readings cost me 110$ at EnviroCopy and is an inch and a half thick.
  • Our light reading for the semester is Kafka's The Trial.
  • I can't pronounce the names of most of the authors in my readings.
  • For part of our evaluation, we have to keep a glossary of terms... to help us understand the concepts we'll be learning.
But who cares! I like a challenge. I like a challenge so much I've opted to write a blog about the challenge instead of diving head first into the 200 pages of novel and 50 pages of articles!

You can take the girl out of procrastination but you can't take procrastination out of the girl.

I know that doesn't make any sense. Maybe I'll go make something to eat for another hour or so and make sense afterwards.

Oooh... A Baby Story is on TLC!

(A little side note of excitement... I just signed my contract to be the Assistant Director for the NAC/Soulpepper co-production of The Real Thing, rehearsing in April and performing in May/June... it's for the "practicum" of my degree, but I'll still pretty excited.)
