A bit of news...

Stewart and I decided to have a quick and quiet marriage ceremony on July 6th at Ottawa city hall. We realised when we picked up our marriage license earlier that week, alsmost three months before the wedding (because I'm ridiculously super-organised) that we wouldn't get the official marriage certificate from the province until three to four months after the ceremony. So, since we've been engaged for over a year and a half, and we didn't want to delay the immigration application process any more than we needed to, and the only reason why we scheduled the wedding in September in the first place is because we originally thought we'd be on tour until then, we decided to have what we are calling a "technicality day". We had our ceremony at City Hall... my parents were there in person, Stewart's parents were there over the cell phone and my best friends Dalelle, Pier and their son Theo were our witnesses. We signed the papers and made it legal. However, in our hearts, the "real" wedding is on September 24th... when I wear the lovely dress Stewart's mom made for me, when my Dad walks me down the aisle, when we exhange vows in front of our friends and family.

It wasn't the way we had planned it but it was the lesser of two evils:
- make it legal now and risk making September 24th less special
- wait until the original wedding date and risk having Stewart being in England for the whole immigration application process.

September 24th will be as special as we want it to be... and with the friends and family we've got, it definetely will be a special occasion.
