Now I'm getting nervous
At the beginning of the whole rehearsal process for Criminal Genius, I was bragging about how many rehearsals hours we had scheduled. I kept yammering on about how dedicated my actors were and about how keen they were to work for so long on my little school project. Well, it would seem that it doesn't matter how much leeway you think you have, it's never enough. Even if you think you have all the time in the word... heck, even if you do have all the time in the world, it never seems like enough.
I'm really starting to get nervous now. It's not that the actors aren't up to the task... far from it. It's not that my production team isn't creative and capable. Oddly enough, I seem to be the only MFA director this semester who succeeded in forming (and keeping) a team together. But we're just over two weeks away from opening and there's soooooo much to do! Plus, I've barely (re: not-at-all) started my pre-production paper due in December. And I haven't worked on my collaborations seminar final paper yet either. I'm still struggling to keep up with the required readings so that I don't end up at the end of the year, a couple of weeks before my final FINAL exam, and have ten books to read in two days. Plus, my husband is still working anywhere from two to four jobs at a time to keep food on the table (when we have time to go to the grocery store to get food that is), so therefore I'm the one making the food (when we have it) and cleaning the apartment (when I have time).
Wow... ok... the bitching is done now. I feel better.

Don't fret, it's merely Parkinson's Law in action. More of a universal characteristic than a personal time-management problem.

There's NEVER enough time to work on a script... as an actor or as a director. Even if you were rehearsing for a year, you'd still be finding and exploring new things nine months from now. Just let the show evolve, prioritize your "wants", if you can, and let the beast take what shape it may.
On the other fronts, I suggest that Stewart should sell his body for money. I will buy, but I can't afford to pay much. How about Stewart and I bring new meaning to the notion of "layaway"?
