In the meantime...
I was going to write a long post about the Winnipeg Cabaret at the King's Head, but it's quite long already and I haven't finished it yet. So, in the meantime, here are some more point form details and photos of my goings-on.
- We did our first performances in Saskatoon yesterday. Zombies had a house of about 20 people for a 10pm show, 52 Pick-up had about 40 people for a 6pm show... not too shabby. I did something yesterday that I have never done before... performed while feeling extremely ill! I don't know where it came from, but out of the blue yesterday I was dizzy and nauseous and crampy and generally feeling horrible. I was almost sick right before the show and almost left the stage at numerous times. Somehow, I got through it (though my character has never moved less, been more unconfortable in her skin or harsher towards her mate)... the StarPhoenix gave the show FOUR STARS and highly recommended it. Needless to say, I was relieved. Now I'm hoping that I'll feel better for today's performance... it's not looking good so far though. Oh well.
- We draw company names for the Spoof Night this evening. For those of you who don't know, Spoof Night in Saskatoon gives the chance for companies to see each other's shows and create a short spoof of the show itself, of the performers or all of the above. It's performed at the Broadway Theatre at midnight, mid-way through the Fringe. Since Stewart and I are entering both 52 Pick-up and Zombies into the mix, we're going to have to spoof two shows. Why are we giving ourselves more work? There are 30 companies who entered the spoof night thingy, so this year it'll be held over the course of two nights. More details to follow.
- The annual football (soccer!) game is this Tuesday at 11am... team selection at 10:30. Those who are interested should come to the Fringe office bright and early. I plan on sipping a frappachino and reading a book under a tree while I watch everyone else exhaust and dirty themselves... should be fun.
Ok, and now for some photos.
My favorite meal in Winnipeg... ice cream and mini-donuts from two seperate vendors, put into one bowl... delicious!
Phil (from Fill the Void) and his trusty video camera, waiting to capture moments of the Jenny's, the Winnipeg Fringe silly awards. Sadly, he missed capturing footage of Stewart making out with Chris from The Excursionists.... I was onstage for the entire thing, with my camera in hand, but I was too shocked to take a photo myself!
Now in Saskatoon, on the rooftop patio at the Yard and Flagon, Colin tries to intimidate Stewart.
The Cabaret description will arriving shortly...
