Another day, another city.
Today we say goodbye to Saskatoon and hello to Edmonton. It's past the mid-way mark of tour and I can feel the energy drooping down. I'm tired, I'm starting to hate theatre and I want to go home... though I have no apartment to myself when I get back. Sigh.
We open on Friday in Edmonton, so that gives us plenty of time to do our techs, poster like mad, hopefully do my lesson plans for next semester's acting class at Algonquin, and maybe have some time to relax. Someone asked me the other day if touring two shows is a good idea. Stewart replied with a resounding "YES!" and said he'd even consider touring three. My jaw dropped. Of course he would say that. He's not the one doing the admin for two companies, media for three companies, arranging biletting, arranging transportation, making sure the costumes (and our regular clothes) are clean, doing phone interviews, writing and re-writing press releasese, sharing kind words when a critical review comes out... oh, and directing and redirecting, organising the tech, stage managing, dramaturging (is that a word?) and, if I still have energy, PERFORMING in the freaking show I'm doing all this organising for!
Three shows next year? I don't fucking think so. Unless I'm the one who can wake up (late!), get ready for the show, do the show, then chill out afterwards! (The worst part of all of this is, I'm the one who allows this to happen in the first place!)
On another note, I was going to do a photo post today, but we're leaving in an hour and I don't have the time to upload the new ones. I will try to update the blog with them soon. In two weeks, I'll be on my honeymoon and, hopefully, no where near anywhere that will allow me to use the internet, so I'll try to update as much as possible before then.
