Stressed?
Maybe I'm just overreacting?
It should be okay for me to grant an actor's request to miss rehearsal so he can hang out with a friend he hasn't seen in a while... but we're one week before opening!!!
It should be normal for me to want to mop the floor before the actor's walk on it with their bare feet... but we're working in a space that's not the university's and we don't have access to the broom closet!!!
It should be in my right to want to turn off the AC/Heat during the show, so as to cut some of the noise during performance... but the building belongs to the city of Gatineau and they might not give us the right to have the keys to the fan controls!!!
It should be human of me to work a long day, be very tired at the end of it and easily float off to dreamland for eight blissful hours... but my body hates me and I'm stuck directing this freaking show in my dreams which results in me waking up every thirty minutes shaking, sweaty and thirsty. By the time I actually fall into a peaceful sleep, I only reap the rewards for three hours!!!
Maybe that's why I've had a perma-migraine for three days.
Damn, if I didn't care about the show this much, I wouldn't be writing this blog post. Why does doing what we love hurt us so much?

I'm so sorry...I guess it is in your genes. But you are in good company. Many so called "creative genius" type people have been migraine suffers too. (and no, I was not referring to myself)
Hang in there.

...so that we know how to recognize it when doing what we love heals us.
